Crochet School

Announcement1

Ever wanted to learn how to crochet but could never figure out what the terms (hdc) half double crochet stitch or (dtr) double treble crochet stitch means. Well here's your chance to learn it all. Dana, from Crafty Minx is offering all readers to learn how to crochet for free, yup that's right you read it correctly FREE!! Are you excited yet, because I know I am and I can't wait to start the class. I know the basics to crocheting that is my crochet hair bows you can find here. Let me give you guys the 411 on how I learned to crochet. It all started by a child hood friend crocheting a few things that I don't remember what since it was ages ago. I was intrigued by her talent that I had to learn. The minute I picked up my very first crochet hook I was immediatley hooked. I couldn't stop myself from making all sorts of things from Barbie clothes to baby dresses. But as I got older my learning ability for crocheting vanished. When I started making my crochet hair bows I was stunned that I couldn't figure it out. I found a pattern on Etsy to learn how to make my crochet hair bows and I was convinced I would pick it up instantly unfortunately I didn't. What else was I suppose to do but to learn it myself and that's exactly what I did. Long story short, I am still craving to learn more of it and that is why I am taking this class. I can't wait for it to start. Are any of you itching to learn how to crochet? Well here's your chance. Read below on some more info.

Our Weekend

I do apologize for not posting these sooner remember when I said that I was feeling ill well it so happens I have had and still have this awful sickness. I can't believe that in less then a week my online store will soon open and attending my first craft show. I'm far from being nervous but I do know when it comes down to it I will be running around like a chicken with my neck cut off making sure I am well prepared. But for now enjoy our photos from the weekend.

Below are a few photos I took with my iphone using the instagram app. I love this app so much they have so many filters to use for your photos. We took the tot to the park over the weekend since it was nice out we grabbed a bite to eat and ate it there. I managed to work on a few products for the store and I'm surely rushing myself to finish. Any of y'all use this app? I hope you all have had a great week.

Letters to my loves

My dearest hunny buns (what I call him),
You are the most remarkable, loving, supportive and handsome man who has entered my life. You have given me the greatest gift of all, our daughter who I absolutely cherish the most. I love that you stand by every decisions I make with my life, supporting me with my career and have stood by me through it all. Yesterday you listened to all the problems that were going on. I cried and you were there to dry my tears, I had hate but you were there to love me and above all I lacked confidence and encouragement for myself but you were there to say how beautiful I was. With your support and love it has made me want to feel better about myself and I couldn't do it without you and everything you are doing for our daughter and myself. So I thank you, hunny and I love you deeply!

Footnote: I will later post photos of our weekend. But for now I just want to share how wonderful my hunny is to the world.

The past two days I've come down with the worst horrible cold runny nose, sore throat, body ache and basically the whole nine yards. I was still in bed until 12, papa took the tot and myself to Smiling Moose I had the tomato basil soup and salad. We then took the tot Target to buy a stroller for her baby. I will post a few photos of our weekend tomorrow. I still feel awful and right now I am snuggled in my blankets watching Make it or Break it with my hunny. I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

Womens Lookbook: Vol. 2

images- Zara

Oh to wish of having enough money to buy all the clothes in the world. I wish that money would grow on trees or that rocks were actually money. I know right now buying the most expensive brands out there is out of my budget, so that is why I settle for things that are less expensive that I think is fashionable to me. I know as soon as everything falls into place with everything going on like Justin finishing school, the opening of my store, getting our own place and to be finally financially stable that I can one day afford these things. But for now I will settle for what I can afford.

I am loving this line from Zara I especially love the second photo the most. I just love the mixture of fabric and colors, this would be such a great outfit for the holidays. I'm guessing maxi skirts will never grow old since I've been seeing it in every designers collection. I have a few that I've yet worn simply because one they either need to altered or two it is to stinking hot out. But I do love the skirt in the last photo since the fabric is light weight, see through and has a slit on the sides a great way to catch a breeze. What do you guys think of the collection?

Mama Style: Yesterday's Outfit

I didn't get a chance to post these photos yesterday, we took them after we finished at the craft store and had to be home early since my hunny had to be up at 4 AM for clinical. He's in his last year of his nursing program and we can't wait until he is finished. Hopefully by next year we will be able to get our own place we've been staying with his parents for three years now and we are all ready for some new change. But next year for his birthday/graduation present I'm taking him to California for the first time in June. We'll be visiting Orange County and staying at a beach house close by. I'm super excited and I'm hoping to meet a few California bloggers. As for an update on the store it's coming along so great. I have about 3 weeks until Trade Days and the opening of the website. I can't wait for that either. Have a great day.

Crafty DIY: Braid Necklace

A while back I was in one of my many mood projects. I would start something and some how wouldn't finish. I have always wanted to make jewelry and I have the tools do it but never actually sat down to start it. I've seen many shops that make their own and thought to myself that hey it's possible, I can do it too. But right now since I have such a busy schedule with the opeing of my online kiddo store that right now I will have to put this project on hold. Has anyone been in my spot before?

Snapshots of life, a vist from grandma and The Lion King

A fun filled weekend ending too soon. My mom was in town this weekend and boy was Asa happy to see her. We rarely get to see her since she lives two hours away and she's always on mini vacations with her husband. We had a wonderful dinner on Friday and afterwards daddy took Asa to her very first football game. I'm a little upset at Justin since he forgot to take photos of her but she cheered them on hooting and hollering. On Saturday, we then took the tot to her first movie theatre experience to watch The Lion King in 3D, I was really surprised at how she did and of course like any other tot she asked questions about the movie and I think the couple in front of us got a little irritated but what can you expect it's a kid movie. When Sunday came we went to church, Asa's first time again, once we sat down she turned to look at me and said, "its beautiful, mama." She was a great kid this weekend I mean she's always great but there are times when she's not and I think anyone can agree with me on that. Any who, how was everyone else's weekend? Did you guys do anything interesting?

Our Style: WHAT WE WORE

As I sit here and figure out what to say I am interrupted by my movie glancing back and forth trying not to miss any parts of the movie. Has anyone seen "Dylan Dog Dead of Night," I love watching movies like this and since papa took the tot to a football game I figured I get some quiet time to myself. We took these photos before they left and I was showing the tot how to pose and she was just too cute trying to pose like mama. She's getting better at it you all will soon see. I'd really like to take the tot to see "The Lion King," but I haven't made up my mind if she's ready to see it in theatres. Any moms out there with two year olds who has taken their little ones with any advice?

Mama Style: WHAT I WORE

blazer- Zara, dress- Ross, clutch- thrifted, booties- Charlotte Russe

This morning I woke up to the most horrible allergies imaginable. I seem to have the worst allergies ever and it always hits me every time the seasons changes. I hate them!!! It doesn't help when you live in the most windy and dusty town not to mention the minute we took these photos the wind not unexpectedly happen to interrupt us while taking these photos but we managed to get a few good ones. I really wish I had a better camera for my photos that my clothes would be clearer. I bought this Zara blazer about two years ago in Vegas when I took my hunny their for his birthday. It has tiny floral prints, ties in the back and so light weight. Well I better get back to cooking dinner I'm making Chicken Tortellini Soup tonight and oh my is it delish. Have a great one!!

How to: The Fun Bun

I'm sure you all have heard of the website, The Beauty Department a place where you can find some of the greatest hair tutorials to make up tips. Lauren Conrad, from "The Hills," is one of three who contributes to giving advices in all aspects of beauty. I can be a rut sometimes when it comes to that department so why not follow a few of their secrets with my daily routine or to just mix it up. I've sported a bun before only just around the house but never out in publie, I feel that this wouldn't be the best style for my head shape. I've seen so many cute styled buns out there that I'm dying and slightly convinced that I can pull it off outside my home. So, I am going to attempt this someday when I'm not up to styling my usual do. What do you guys think of buns?

Tasty Tuesday

Source- Dashing Dish

I stumbled upon a Food Blog that you all must check out, Katie of Dashing Dish documents, creates and shares all of her life recipes. She is such an inspiration when it comes to living a healthier life and creating amazing dishes that will sure help our tempting needs. Now this recipe in particular caught my attention, I don't normally cook Mexican dishes since in my opinion takes such a long time to make. This recipe after reviewing it five times finally convinced me to someday make it and I love that she includes calories per serving and Weight Watchers Points, now isn't that amazing. If your needing a new blog to read specially one that blogs about food and exercise do check her site out. You won't be disappointed.

South Western Taco Lasagna
Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey, or lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped fine
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
One (16-ounce) can black beans (or black refried beans)
1 cup salsa, (I like black bean/corn salsa for this recipe)
One (16-ounce) container small curd cottage cheese (or part-skim ricotta)
1 1/2 cups shredded reduced-fat 4-cheese Mexican blend cheese
6 lower carb/whole wheat tortillas cut into “lasagna noodle” sized strips, (or 6 pre-cooked lasagna noodles)
*Optional topping: light sour cream

Method

1.Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray 13×9x2 inch baking pan with cooking spray.
2.Spray a large frying pan with cooking spray, and turn the heat up to medium high. Add the ground turkey and chopped onion to the pan, and cook until the meat is no longer pink. Stir the taco seasoning, beans, and salsa into the meat mixture and set aside.
3.In a medium sized bowl combine the cottage cheese, and 1 cup of the shredded cheese and set aside.
4.In the baking dish, place a single layer of 3 of the tortillas “cut into strips” (or 3 lasagna noodles) in a row to cover the bottom of the dish. Spoon half of the meat mixture on top of the tortillas, followed by half of cheese mixture. Repeat layers, and finish with remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.
5.Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes, removing the foil for the last 10 minutes to brown the cheese

Mama Style: Yesterday's Outfit

top/shoes- forever21, pants- target, hat- pacsun

Hi, lovelies!! The weather here seems to get cooler and cooler as the passing days to fall and I can't wait for it to get here. This summer heat has been awful. I can't wait to keep warm and cozy, layering my style, drinking hot coco and of course the holidays. How has the weather been treating everyone else. A little update on the store it's coming along so well I really wish I had an assistant to help me but this is just a one man show. It will get better perhaps I just have to let myself know that I can do it.
