Guest Post: Swirls of Happy lusting Free People

Hello to all the Eat, Love, Style readers!  Brittany here from Swirls of Happy.  I am guest posting today for Jackie while she is on vacation and I couldn't be more excited!  I love the Lusting series of posts that Jackie writes. I always get excited to see what makes it on her list to swoon over!  With that being said, I'm going to be posting today what I am lusting on this week. Two words: Free People.

Let's get serious....when am I NOT lusting for Free People!  They have so many beautiful clothes, and I love the boho chic, and care free vintage vibe that free people evokes.  From the stacked bracelets (I am most definitely a stacked and layered jewelry gal), to the arrowhead pendants and the awesome leather fringe bags, Free People is totally drool worthy and positively something to lust for.  Enjoy your day everyone!

Guest Post: Delighted Momma's Crafty DIY

Hello readers of Eat Love & Style! I am Lindsay from Delighted Momma!
I LOVE Jackie's blog and and so excited to be here! Today I am going to show you how to take old bangles and spruce them up.
I have TONS of cheapy silver bangles that I have acquired. I mean really... how many silver bracelets can one girl own?...A LOT according to my jewelry drawer. So I decided to spruce some of them up!

What you need:
  • Scissors
  • Hemp cords (as many colors as you like)
  • An old bangle
Pick a color you want to start with. Tie a TIGHT double knot around the bracelet. Start wrapping the hemp cord around the bracelet. Tuck the strand from the knot (second picture) on the inside as you wrap.

When you are ready to add your next color, tie a tight double knot next to were you left off with the previous color. Wrap like you did with the first color. Keep the other hemp string tucked behind.

Alternate the colors as much or little as you like....tucking the
previous color as you go

When you reach the end, double knot the cord and cut the loose end.

Since you cant have just ONE bangle..I made two :)

Hope you all enjoyed the little tutorial. Thanks again Jackie for having me!

Mama Style: WHAT I WORE

The first day we decided to go into town it poured heavy rain and let me tell you I haven't seen any rain for over two months. We had such a fun filled day that I took over one hundred photos it's kind of hard to pick and choose your best ones. We had a chance to take a few outfit pictures and I was extremely excited about that, why you ask, well we don't have many sceneries or amazing buildings like this place behind me which was an antique store. I will comply photos of what I've taken into one in different parts. But before I go what did you guys think of the very first guest blogger the blogredhead she did an amazing job, you all should check her blog out she finds the most amazing thrifted items ever. Well be sure to check out the blog this week for there will be more to come.

footnote: If you've noticed that my title has changed. I hate having to figure what title to put for my outfit post so I just changed it to that. Great right!!!

Guest Post: Blog Redhead's Tasty Tuesday

Hello, dear readers of Eat.Love.&Style! I’m Jamie of blogRedhead (link:; when Jackie asked me to guest blog for her I jumped at the occasion because she runs a staggering blog! In Jackie’s blog, she features delicious food, promotes and shares stories of love, and shows off her impeccable style. I wanted to do her blog justice and give you all a fun and pretty recipe I’ve been desperately wanting to try: Lavender Lemonade! I’m not much of a cook, well if truth be told, I don’t ever cook so the directions and ingredients to this recipe is an easy and fast one:

source- oprahinnbrooklyn

Servings: Makes about 16 servings

3 cups sugar
7 sprigs lavender (stems and buds), plus additional for garnish*
2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 12 lemons)
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 5 limes)

In a large saucepan, bring one gallon of water and the sugar to a boil. Remove from heat; add 7 lavender sprigs and lemon and lime juices. Cool to room temperature, strain, and chill. Serve on ice, with additional lavender for garnish.

* If unavailable, substitute fresh basil or lemon thyme.

Please send us both messages once you’ve tried this! Or if you have already tried this, message us anyway and let us in on your thoughts! :) In addition to this recipe, I wanted to call attention to mine and Jackie’s love for fashion/thrifting. I wrote a short post on the fundamentals of thrift shopping here (link: I’ve been collecting and thrifting since I was 15 years old and I learned the hard way how to thrift wisely.

To Jackie’s sweet and dyed-in-the-wool readers, I hope I get to know you all, too but most importantly, I hope you enjoyed this post. Aren’t we all jealous we’re not on vacation with her too?

xo, jamie

If ever I am uninspired I just head on ever to their site and take a look at what others have pinned on there boards...and voila instat inspiration everywhere. You guys should check it and my boards. Once you check it out you will be hooked. I know I am.

As you can see you may think that we have finished packing but unfortunately for us we are no where close. You see that luggage where all of the tot's clothes are on I found it at our local Antique Mall for $4 which I'm working on a small project for the tot. It is now being filled with outfits that she will wear when we're in Arkansas but don't let that small amount of clothes fool you because there is more to it then that. As for me I wanted to share a few outfits I will be wearing as well. I can't wait to do outfit post. How do you guys get yourself ready for a trip?

Tasty Tuesday

I love spring rolls of any kind. I have yet to try out any recipes but when I stumbled upon one of my fave bloggers who takes amazing outfit photos and of her everyday life not only is she known for that but she also runs her very own shop. When I saw this recipe on her blog I couldn't resist but ask if I may steal it and post it on my daily "tasty tuesday post" and of course she said yes. Spring rolls are the healthier versions of egg rolls, I think. Since I'm on a strict diet I'm sure I will be making these baby with different fillings. Check out fashionstoned at her neck of the woods, you will love her blog as much as I have.

When it comes to the "papas" style he's all about comfort. On days like today when it's hot he'll throw on an outfit similar to this. I wish we had a River Island or can shop online that would be awesome, don't you think? Since Fathers Day is right around the corner, I'm still uncertain as to what I will get him. What are ya'll getting your father?

Hey, guys!!! Sorry for the lack of outfit posts but this mama has been one busy girl. I'm working on a major project that I can't wait to release and every time I think about it I just want to shout it out. When it comes to outfit posts and that time to take my pictures, Justin and I are always trying to figure out places to take them. Has anyone watched Super 8, if you haven't you should. We took the tot to the drive in to watch Kung Fu Panda 2, which was so cute and funny then Super 8 showed afterwards. I highly recommend you guys watch it. I'm in a hurry waiting for my hunny to finish with his shower so that he can help me with my workouts. Goodnight!!

I love these little dumplings. I tried Asian pot stickers for the first time a couple of months ago. I'm the type of person who has problems trying out things when it comes to texture. When I first saw these I immediately said to myself that I wouldn't try them due to the fact that the rapper would be soggy or slimy but I was convinced otherwise. These amazing, tasty and oh so delicious pot stickers are so yummy. I need a recipe for them. If any of you know how to make this awesome to goodness and mouth watering stickers, please send it my way.

You have no idea how much I dread taking pictures outside in a hundred degree weather, yikes. Every person in my town have been praying to the rain gods for rain and we need it. This dry heat has made me not want to step foot outside and not only that it's windy as hell. I hope you all haven't been sick with my hairstyles to be honest I feel that when my hair is curly my pictures turn out so much better. I need to see my hairstylist to color and cut my hair but I haven't done so. I actually need to before I go on vacation the end of this month. Well I hope you all are staying cool this summer.

Picture of Southwestern Style Turkey Sliders Recipe
source- foodnetwork

This is one tasty turkey burger you guys need to try. I've tried this recipe numerous of times and every time I make it I've perfected this recipe. Now you have to make Bobby Flay's Chipotle Mayo it is the best sauce to put on this turkey burger. Well I hope you all give it a try.

Southwestern Style Turkey Sliders

2 pounds ground turkey, 85/15 blend
1/2 cup minced red onion
1/4 cup minced green onion, (about 1 scallion)
1 or 2 serrano peppers, minced, to taste
2 egg whites
1 1/2 tablespoons Emeril's Southwestern Essence
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup grated Cheddar
12 mini burger buns or small soft dinner rolls, warmed in oven
12 small lettuce leaves
12 slices tomato
1 cup thinly sliced red onions
1 avocado, thinly sliced
Mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup, optional

Bobby Flay Chipotle Mayonnaise:
1 cup mayonnaise
2 chipotles in adobo sauce
1 tablespoon adobo sauce
1/2 lime, juice
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey with minced red onion, green onion, peppers, egg whites, Essence, cumin and Worcestershire sauce. Divide the turkey into 12 equal portions and, using your hands, shape into 12 small burgers about 3 1/2-inches wide.

Place the burgers on the grill and cook until turkey is done and a thermometer inserted into the center registers 165 degrees F, about 3 minutes per side.

Serve the burgers with cheese on the mini buns with lettuce, tomato, thinly sliced red onions and avocado, garnished with mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup to your liking.
